We attended the School District's annual Occupational Health and Safety training session at the Sechelt Learning Centre. We were the students for today and the topic was Incident Reporting.
Examples of workplace incidents were mostly taken from the presenter's work background in the forestry industry and we worked through a number of scenarios related to the safety of employees on the workforce.
As educators we often don't need to think much about our environment and safety, but issues do arise a number of times a year where staff are injured on the job and paperwork and reports for the Workers Compensation Board need to be completed. It was a good day to sit in a room as a student and learn. The class size was perfect :)
